Kundalini Yoga taught by Siri Shakti - Sacred Light Soundbaths and Crystals

Kundalini Yoga taught by Siri Shakti

Kundalini is one of my personal favorite yoga practices. Kundalini has helped me personally whenever I have felt energetically blocked in combination with the sound bath practice. Sacred Light strives to introduce energetic practices that can help us all make our way through this lifetime with ease and happiness. Siri Shakti is a very special and talented yoga teacher. We are honored at Sacred Light to host her as she guides us through the beautiful and powerful Kundalini practice. We invite all of you who strive to find a way to bring more light energy into your body and nervous system to join us on this journey.

“What is kundalini actually?  You experience it when the glandular system combines with the nervous system to create such a sensitivity that the totality of the brain receives signals and integrates them.  Then a person understands the effect of the effect in a sequence of causes.  In other words, man becomes totally and wholly aware.  We call it the yoga of awareness.”  Yogi Bhajan

Siri Shakti is a medical doctor who has been teaching Kundalini Yoga since 2006.  She found Kundalini Yoga as a teenager while on her own healing journey.  Since then, she has found that practicing kundalini yoga for even one minute can bring about profound improvements in every area of life.

Kundalini Yoga is a practice for everybody. It works to heal the wounded but just as profoundly to improve the lives of individuals who are already experiencing health,  vitality and prosperity.  It creates the vibrational frequency of bliss and builds in the practitioner the ability to sustain that frequency as an enduring state of being.

In addition to her medical practice, Siri Shakti has been teaching twice weekly classes at Yoga West LA since 2008.  She also teaches weekly at Ra Ma Institute in Venice where the current theme is healing the heart.  Her classes combine a challenging physical practice with breathing techniques and deep meditation.  Her goal is to give the students a variety of experiences and tools for deep awareness and conscious living.

“One of my very first and regular teachers was Guru Jagat. I’d attend her 7 am classes at Yoga West and I loved it. Then, I originally did my teacher training at Yoga West with Guru Singh, Guru Meher and Sada Simran Singh. At the end, Harijiwan was teaching Gurumukhi at his home. That’s where I discovered my root teacher. He and Tej did a level 1 teacher Training in Marina del Rey so I took it again. I fell in love with Tej and learned so much from her and I continue to. Now I attend every teacher training that I can make it to with Harijiwan and Tej. I still go to class with Guru Jagat. And whenever I can I go to class with Gurujas. They are all amazing. Harijiwan will always be my root teacher. I am so fortunate to have Tej in my life as she is the Keeper of the Archives, an amazing light bringer and teacher. When Guru Jagat opened Ra Ma Institute, I worked the front desk opening night. Whenever there’s a chance I have taught there. I am extremely blessed to have had a class at Yoga West practically since I finished my Teacher Training there. It’s a very cozy home and where Yogi Bhajan taught here in LA. I love studying with Harijiwan, Tej, Guru Jagat and Gurujas because they are all different but each is so focused on keeping the accuracy and purity of the teachings brought to us by the master. Keeping the pure light and energy going!”

Crystals and Kundalini Yoga

by Siri Shakti

Kundalini yoga is a sacred science.  It is estimated to be about 5,000 years old.  Those who practice it experience greater awareness and sensitivity to the power of their soul.  It is a sacred science that when practiced precisely give the practitioner pure energy.  Yogi Bhajan who brought the teachings of Kundalini Yoga to the West in 1969 taught about and utilized the power of crystals and gems to amplify and hold the energy generated by the kundalini yoga.  He taught that stones could heal, protect , and improve very specific areas of your life.  He also taught about the four healing stones: lapis azuli, red coral, turquois and carnelian.  He said that these stones would give their life for you, they would take the cracks of life for you.  So from the beginning of his teaching there was always a connection between the use of crystals and kundalini yoga.

Lapis – helps alleviate sickness and is a very powerful protective stone

Coral – balances out positive and negative forces

Turquoise – pulls out impurities

Carnelian –assists in purifying the blood and gives protection

He encouraged his students to use crystals to make malas (meditation tools for repeating mantras) and jewelry.  He also said that when a hole is placed in the earlobe it will cause a hole in the energy  (in a structure he called the arcline) and that placing a crystal in the hole would make up for it and help support the energy of the wearer.

I am very excited to teach kundalini yoga at Sacred Light.  I believe that the crystals there are amplifying and holding the energy created in the classes.   They are healing us by their presence.  And as we are doing the yoga that opens up our soul connection, we are creating a subtle profound relationship with the crystals in the building.  The crystals will project the high energy and sing the mantras they have heard for us after and during our practice making it a perfect environment.  Very supportive. I hope you will make your way to class soon and we can meet and practice in this beautiful way together.
